\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) is a voluntary self-regulatory organization of the advertising\nindustry in India. It is committed to the cause of self-regulation in advertising, ensuring the protection of the\ninterest of consumers.

\nASCI seeks to ensure that advertisements conform to its Code for self-regulation, which requires advertisements\nto be legal, decent, honest and truthful, and not hazardous or harmful while observing fairness in competition. It\nlooks into complaints across all media such as Print, TV, Radio, hoardings, SMS, Emailers, Internet\/web-site,\nproduct packaging, brochures, promotional material and point of sale material etc.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhen crafting an advertisement, the advertiser's target audience is the consumer. Feedback from\nconsumers is crucial for advertisers to ensure that their message is effectively conveyed. If a consumer\nfinds a specific advertisement offensive or believes it makes false claims, they require a body or council\nwhere they can voice their concerns and where appropriate action can be taken. ASCI, as a self-regulatory\nbody overseeing advertising content, serves as the ideal platform because its role is to cater to the needs\nof both advertisers and consumers alike.

\nASCI\u2019s role has been acclaimed by various Government bodies including the\u00a0Department of Consumer\nAffairs\u00a0(DoCA),\u00a0Food Safety and Standards Authority of India\u00a0(FSSAI),\u00a0Ministry of AYUSH\u00a0as well as the\u00a0Ministry\nof Information and Broadcasting. The association with these Government bodies is to co-regulate and curb\nmisleading and objectionable advertisements in the respective sectors.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn India, there is no other non-governmental\norganization responsible for regulating advertising\ncontent.

\nIf an advertisement released in India is seems\nobjectionable, individuals can submit a complaint to\nASCI. The complaint undergoes a deliberation process\nby the CCC, which includes giving the advertiser an\nopportunity to defend the ad against the complaint.\nBased on the ad's compliance with the ASCI code and\nlegal requirements, the complaint may be upheld or not\nupheld. If upheld, the advertiser voluntarily withdraws\nor modifies the ad.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
